    Stuart Rothenberg is also co-director of the American Association of Health Professionals Practicing the Transcendental Meditation Program (AAHPPTMP); and adjunct professor of Ayurvedic Medicine at Maharishi University of Management. A Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, he was a Pulitzer Scholar at Columbia College in New York (1964-8) and received his M.D. degree from New York University School of Medicine (1974).

    Dr. Brown and Dr. Gerbarg begin with a brief review of the neurophysiology, theoretical background, and clinical applications of powerful self- regulation strategies to improve well-being in healthcare providers and mental health in patients. Dr. Brown will lead an experiential introduction to breathing techniques that rapidly reduce anxiety and stress while improving mental focus and cognitive function. They will also discuss how to build upon this knowledge and use it in clinical practice.

    Stress Biology and Integrative Medicine Treatments

    This presentation and workshop will describe methods to reduce anxiety and stress-related symptoms. Dr. Milosavljevic will discuss her research from an integrative mind/body program she pioneered at Massachusetts General Hospital. This program decreased anxiety and increased wellness by using medical acupuncture, aromatherapy essential oils, and sound techniques. This morning presentation includes a session in meditation followed by an educational lecture.
